Welcome Fall with these Easy Baked Apple Chips

applechipsfinal

Fall is most definitely my favorite season. I love the weather, the smells, and, most importantly, the tastes. One of my prerequisites for cooking or baking anything is that it must be E-A-S-Y. I’m not into the whole spend-three-hours-making-a-pie-just-to-watch-it-get-eaten-in-only-five-minutes thing. I mean seriously, who needs that aggravation…just buy a pie at Wal-Mart for like $4, you know what I’m saying?

But anyway…

These baked apple chips are cheap, easy, make your house smell AWESOME, and most importantly, they taste AMAZING. So here’s a little rundown of how to fill your house with Fall happiness!

First, grab yourself some apples! I chose four Red Delicious apples. I probably ended up with around 75ish chips from these.

I used a tomato knife to slice them up. I cut each slice as thin as possible.

Next, I spread out the slices onto several baking sheets lined with foil or parchment paper. Then I sprinkled each slice with cinnamon and just a tad bit of sugar. No set amount, I just followed my heart.

After that, I let those puppies bake in the oven at 250 degrees for about 3 and a half hours. And here was the finished product:

We host a small group for our church’s college ministry, so I made these along with some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for the students to snack on last weekend. The whole house smelled wonderful and all the chips disappeared very quickly.

So that’s it! Pretty foolproof, right? Seriously, a monkey could make these. (That’s my kind of recipe.) They’re great for a dessert, appetizer, or an on-the-go snack. If you want to get real crazy, you could add some different ingredients — maybe drizzle some dark chocolate or caramel over the slices.

And if you want to get even CRAZIER, you can make these during other seasons besides Fall, because we do, in fact, live in a free country.

Enjoy!
